  • Guttate psoriasis.
  • Inverse psoriasis.
  • Erythrodermic psoriasis.

Pustural psoriasis is the most uncommon kind of psoriasis and usually develops in adults. In this case, pus-filled lumps occur around the skin. Patient might think that it is an infection but it is not an infection and symptoms of postural psoriasis are fever, chills, mussel’s weakness, fast heart beat etc. There are many chemicals that could trigger this sort of psoriasis. This type of psoriasis is controlled by strong steroids and systematic drags.

Gultate is a type which most commonly occurs in children. In this condition, pink or red spots occur on the body and most commonly on upper arms, thighs and scalp. This type could be treated well and can be gone without any treatment but in worse cases, treatment is compulsory.

Erythrodermic psoriasis is a type which is non-common but causes serious threat. It affects the whole body, spreads very fast and makes the skin burn. There are some symptoms of erythrodermic psoriasis include sever etching; burning, fast heartbeat, severe changes in the body and more.

Causes of psoriasis

There are not exact causes of psoriasis but many experts say that it is the combination of many things like immune system, environmental factors, and gene mutations could also cause psoriasis. Experts say that skin cells remain in the body from ten to thirty days before being replaced with the healthy cells. However, in the case of psoriasis, new cells grow rapidly and takes three to four days to being replaced.

Psoriasis is the genetic disease but it can skip any generation like if grandfather suffered from this disease, then the chances of their grandson having this disease are even higher, while the mother could be perfectly safe. There are many factors that trigger this disease like cuts, surgery, emotional stress, sun burn, blood pressure, steroid, fungal infection, scrubs, medications and excessive exposure to the UV lights and hydroxychloquine.

Psoriasis affects two to three percent people around the world and 2.2% in United State. People who are living in Northern Europe are more likely to get this disease and this disease is less common in Eastern Asia. There is no known cure for psoriasis but there is a lot treatment to reduce the seriousness of this disease. Psoriasis increases the risk of a lot of other diseases which are associated with heart attack and stroke etc.

Symptoms/Sign

Experts say that symptoms and signs are different from one person to another. There are many common symptoms and signs of psoriasis which are found in every person. These symptoms are red patches, burning of skin which causes itching and soreness, small red and pink spots, red patches covered with thick silvery scales, swelling and stiffness of joints, discoloration of nails, cracked skin, dry skin that may bleed while itching: all these are the symptoms and signs of psoriasis.

In psoriasis, red patches occur in back, elbow, knees, scalp, feet, face, legs and palms. Psoriasis may affect the nails as well and may cause abnormal nail growth. In psoriasis, nail loses and may separate from nail bed. This process is known as oxycholysis. In the severe cases of psoriasis nail could also start to crumble. [1] These all are the symptoms that occur on different parts on the body and lead to the severe damage.

There are many factors which trigger psoriasis and most of these are environment factors which lead to psoriasis. Some of these factors include infection such as sore throat, cold weather, dry condition, heavy alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, passive smoke or active smoke, medication like lithium and antimalarial drugs, injury to the skin, depression, and stress: all these are the factors that trigger psoriasis in the body. [2]

If patient has psoriasis, it can increase the risk of developing other disease as well. If the patient is suffering from psoriasis, it can increase the risk of having psoriatic arthritis that causes stiffness and swelling of the joints. It also increases the eye disease like conjunctivitis and uveitis, it also the increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, as well as high blood pressure in patients. It also disturbs the mental health, like depression and stress besides triggering autoimmune disease that are called Crohn’s disease etc.

Treatment

The basic aim of the treatment is to stop the rapid growth of skin cells, and it may include many creams, ointments like phototherapy and oral and injected medicines. These all depend upon symptoms and condition of psoriasis in the patient’s body. There are some oral or injected medicines that are used in treating psoriasis.

There are some light therapies which are called phototherapy which are used in the treatment of severe psoriasis. In this therapy, natural or artificial light is exposed to the skin in a controlled environment.
